The interest for artificial meat has recently expanded. However, from the literature, perception of artificial meat in China is not well known. A survey was thus carried out to investigate Chinese attitudes toward artificial meat. The answers of 4666 respondents concluded that 19.9% and 9.6% of them were definitely willing and unwilling to try artificial meat respectively, whereas 47.2% were not willing to eat it regularly, and 87.2% were willing to pay less for it compared to conventional meat

A survey was thus carried out to investigate Chinese attitudes toward artificial meat. The answers of 4666 respondents concluded that 19.9% and 9.6% of them were definitely willing and unwilling to try artificial meat respectively, whereas 47.2% were not willing to eat it regularly, and 87.2% were willing to pay less for it compared to conventional meat. Finally, 52.9% of them will accept artificial meat as an alternative to conventional meat.

Chinese Cell-Based Meat Startup Raises US$3M Angel Round To Scale Cultured Minced Pork

Mainland Chinese cultivated meat startup Joes Future Food has raised 20 million RMB (US$3 million) in an angel investment round. The food tech, recently rebranded from Nanjing Zhouzi, will be using the funding to ramp up R&D and overcome technical challenges in order to improve its current product – cultivated minced pork.

Startup Secures China’s Largest Cultivated Meat Investment Yet

Joes Future Food, a leading Chinese cultivated meat startup previously known as Nanjing Zhouzi, has secured a CNY 20 million (around USD 3 million) investment from Matrix Partners China in their angel round. In November 2019, Prof. Zhou Guanghong and his team created China’s first cultivated pork at a research center on the campus of Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU).

Plant-based meat in China: a bullish future without meat

The investment buzz in the US capital market is well resonated across the Pacific in China. Shuangta Food, a company based in East China’s Shandong Province that produces pea protein witnessed a 192.5 percent jump of its share price in August compared to the beginning of the year. The company recently made the first plant-based pork mooncakes during this year’s Mid Autumn festival along with Zhen Meat, another alternative meat company. In Shanghai’s A-share market, any company relating to faux meat saw their price soar.
