Bollywood couple Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh have started a new plant-based meat venture, Imagine Meats.Plant-based meats are made entirely from plant ingredients such as pea protein and coconut oil, but replicate the taste, smell, and sizzle of animal meat.Globally, the sector is growing rapidly, with several companies scaling up and even being listed on stock exchanges. Data from the Good Food Institute, the leading non-profit advancing the sector, shows 2019 was a watershed moment with hundreds of millions of dollars in global investment and retail sales in the sector, and increasing advancement into Asian markets.
The Indian plant-based egg startup Evo Foods has announced two new investments. The capital comes from VegInvest, a vegan investment firm, and angel investor Dr. Sandhya Sriram.Sriram is CEO and co-founder of cultivated shrimp company Shiok Meats, while VegInvest has invested in several clean meat startups such as Mosa Meat and Wild Earth in the past.
This method can be manipulated depending on whether the consumer demands lean and fatty meat product, or a solid dry meat product to be available in various shapes and sizes. Daily edible components are being used to make the support matrix in order to increase the nutrient content of the meat product
